This week’s comic is inspired by this Kevin Fowler song.  If you haven’t checked out the La Vida Skeeter facebook page in a while, you should swing by & become a fan.  I’ve been working on it a bit this week.  The FB page now has a section with videos, a Facebook Exclusive section (where I plan to post a few extra comics & remixes), and the Skeeter Tweets section is pretty neat-o, too.

Scooter

1 oz. Amaretto

1 oz. Brandy

1 oz. Light Cream

Mix in a blender or shake with cracked ice. Strain into cordial glass, then scoot that shot to your mouth & shoot it.

1 oz. Light Rum

1 tbsp. Passion Fruit Syrup

2tsps. Lime Juice

Shake with ice, strain into a cocktail glass & go get’cha some beads!

Happy Friday!  We made it to another weekend!  Sorry, no blog post last week.  I’ve been supersuperbusy.  The holidays were hectic (we had a blizzard dump on us, I had to work Christmas, then we roadtripped all over the place to visit relatives). Then I got sick.  Then work’s been crazy.  Then my dog’s been injured, requiring a lotta’ care.  Plus I’m also gearing up to co-teach a college class starting this next week.  Deep breath.  This comic’s one of the few things in life that helps keep my sanity.  Last week was a big milestone for La Vida Skeeter: 100 comics!  When I started drawing these, that number seemed very far away.  Thanks for joining me week after week for a little amusement.  I hope these silly mosquitoes elicit the occasional chuckle.  I appreciate the feedback and encouragement some of you have given me over the past year and half.  As for 2010, we’re gonna’ keep on truckin’.  Every Friday: happy hour here!

1/2 shot Orange Juice
Champagne
Pour the vermouth, rum & oj into a champagne flute.  Fill with champagne.  Garnish with a slice of banana.  Boom! Boom!

Merry Christmas/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah/Festivus/Holidays/pick one!

Whatever you’re celebrating, I hope it’s a good one!  We’re under a blanket of snow after Oklahoma’s 2nd-ever blizzard warning, and I’m working (I shoot the local news in Tulsa).  Sure, it’s not ideal, but I’m thankful I’ve got my health AND I’ve got fantastic readers like YOU!  Next week marks a milestone for this little webcomic: 100 episodes!  Also, it’s New Year’s, so you know we’re gonna’ have a good time!  See ya back here next Friday to usher out the “aughts” and welcome 2010 skeeter-style!

Johnny Walker Scotch whisky

Jim Beam bourbon whiskey

Jack Daniel’s Tennessee whiskey

Combine equal parts of each in a shot glass. Another variation I’ve tried involves Jagermeister, Rumple Minze & Goldschlager.

Next Friday: a special Christmas-themed La Vida Skeeter (who knows, maybe we’ll see “Moe Skeeter’s Jug Band Christmas”…or maybe my skeeterholics will be visited by Scrooge-y ghosts of mosquitoes past, present & future). Only one way to find out : )  Anyway, we’ve made it through another week (well, the Monday – Friday kids have…for you other fine folks, I hope it’s at least your hump day).  At any rate, kick your heels up, relax & here, have a beverage:

Body Shot

1 oz Alcohol of choice (Vodka, Rum, Tequila, etc)

1 package of sugar (or salt)

1 lemon or lime wedge (your pref)

Using a partner of the preferred sex, lick their neck to moisten. Pour packet of sugar (or salt) on the wet spot on their neck & stick the citrus wedge in their mouth (with the peel side inward). You 1st lick the sugar (or salt) from their neck, then shoot the liquor, and finally suck the citrus wedge from their mouth (while cradling their neck).  There are other variations on this theme (really, the only constant in this recipe is just to have fun doing it).

3 oz. Smirnoff Green Apple Twist Vodka

6 oz. 7-Up Cherry soda

Pour ingredients over ice in a highball glass & let the juice get loose.

East India Cocktail No. 1

1 1/2 oz. Brandy

1/2 tsp. Pineapple Juice

1/2 tsp. Triple Sec

1 tsp. Jamaica Rum

1 dash Bitters

Shake with ice, strain into cocktail glass & add a twist of lemon peel and a cherry. Remember, don’t drink and drive your karma over someone’s dogma…you might spill your drink.

Fill your glass 1/2 way with beer.  Add a 1/4 cognac, top it off with the coke, then huff n’ puff on a Berlin wall & watch it crumble.
