Day 2 of Halloween Week here at LVS looks to be a little hairy. I had to do a comic with a werewolf because…well, I like werewolves. That, and believe it or not, I have some history with them. Back in college, I did a video mockumentary on the “filming” of a fictional werewolf movie called “Big Bad Wolf”. It was pretty bad, but I did a ton of research on werewolves before shooting it (which basically means I watched as many movies about werewolves as I could). So, here’s my top 5 werewolf flicks:
1. Dog Soldiers. werewolves vs. Scottish military dudes. Siege theme. Creepy looking werewolves. Awesome!
2. American Werewolf in London. Great story & the Rick Baker special effects are amazing (before CGI made every effects movie look like a cartoon).
3. Teen Wolf. puberty: a werewolf story. Hilarious! Makes me wanna’ surf USA on top of a delivery truck.
4. The Howling V. Awful acting and awful writing, but the werewolf effects aren’t bad and the concept of the story is cool. It’s basically a slasher pitting a bunch of strangers against a werewolf in an old castle.
5. The Wolf Man. Universal horror, gypsies, and Lon Chaney. I’m curious to see the remake, but also put off by the CGI I saw in the previews (just really not a fan of most CGI).
Honorable mention: Wolf (Jack Nicholson as a werewolf)
Favorite werewolf gag ever? This one:
